The Riotous
Brothers is the culmination of four men’s lives in rhythm & blues.
Having played the bars, balls and blues halls (for almost too many
years to remember!) this band has enough experience and charisma
to carry it off. So if it's a function, club, pub or festival...The
Brothers can handle it!
Mash Sonnet • Paul Long • Martin
Ayling • Dirk Maggs
• THE EXPERIENCE •
La Cage - the punks, goths and bikers all cramming in to listen.
The Wedgewood Rooms - encored to the rafters on the venue's first
stage.
Blues At The Fort - a performance that had jaws dropping and
pints left untouched.
Guilfest - blistering heat, blistering blues, blisters galore,
whistles, applause and cheers.
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard - a band on fire in the freezing
rain, and still they danced.
• THE BAND •
An incarnation of four unrelated siblings who live, breathe and
play searing, vibrant
Rhythm and Blues. Veterans of stages shared with Dr Feelgood,
Blues'n'Trouble, Snowy
White, Denny Laine, The Hoax, Sherman Robertson, & Mica Paris.
• THE COMMITMENT •
Powerhouse urban electric blues ... solid, edgy guitar work from
Mash, singing like his
life depends on it, cool chords from Paul's keys, all propelled
by the 'engine room' -
Martin and Dirk on bass and drums.
The Riotous Brothers ... fiery ... heartfelt ... honest.
• THE MUSIC •
A cup of Jay Owens ... two spoons of Johnny Guitar Watson ...
steep in the skinny
harp-hop of Honey Pot and muddy-minors of I'm Ready ... add strong
original material,
the anguished She Don’t Sleep at Night and raucous I’ve
Had My Fill, alongside carefully
chosen, unusual covers ... When a Blind Man Cries ... Strange
Face of Love.
• THE FUTURE •
The Riotous Brothers mix it up to create maximum groove, maximum
smiles on the
faces of both the band and the punters, from traditional twelve
bar surprises to
unexpected left-turns where the set becomes a firework display
of freewheeling impro,
giving the boys room to live a little and expand on the vibe
...
The Riotous Brothers ... not 'Woke Up This Morning', but 'Going
Out Tonight'.
• THE FEEDBACK •
"You guys are freakin' awesome!" Bill Duffy, Portland,
MN, USA
" Honest. Soulful. Not a cover band, an Undercover Band
..." Bruce Hensal, Orlando, FLA
